Home of the alternative rock band Blink 182 it’s close by to other secondary cities in another one of its zip codes of 92128. The area’s big and hosts a large commercial business district out east off of Scripps Poway Parkway. Speaking of popular trails one of the more well-known ones known as Iron Mountain is located near Poway. It’s all about hiking in this area. The Iron Mountain Summit Trail is a light to moderate 6 Mile round trip. Very popular with runners alike who enjoy this mountain peak, and a physical challenge.

There’s the Bernardo Winery. Great food, décor, & wine options in a relaxing setting with live jazz. There’s also the Koi Zen Craft Winery that’s good. A Phil’s BBQ opened up in Rancho Bernardo, which is 1 of its 6 locations in San Diego. Two old long standing Poway favorties are the Original Pancake House, and The Hamburger Factory. Good family restaurants! Of course, there all the well-known’s like The Brigantine, Filippi’s, Claim Jumper, & Outback Steakhouse. And, some good Italian, Japanese, & Mediteranean cuisine too.

Poway, or “Pauwai” is the name given to this beautiful valley area. The name came from the language of Native American people, namely from the Luiseno & Diegueno bands. 1859 was the year the first non-native settler took up residency as a rancher. By 1869 many more settlers had come. Families set up dairy farms, and planted vineyards & orchards. Beekeeping & raising grain turned out to be very profitable businesses too.
